Collaborative mural made possible by Altruistic Current

Media Clips

As part of their "Muraleers" program, not-for-profit group Altruistic Current (Alt-C) design and applies for grants to creative collaborative murals made by the community. As the Artistic Director for Alt-C, I develop the design, assist in the grant-writing, and facilitate the behind-the-scenes work for all their murals.

With the Downtown Halifax Business Commission's (DHBC) Gritty to Pretty placemaking grant, Alt-C facilitated a collaborative mural, made by Community Members and Professional Artists. Hosting a Community Paint Day, people of all ages & abilities could help fill in the background of the pre-designed mural, and later, four Professional Artist would put their stylistic "icing on the cake " touches on top.

Between the Community Paint Day and when the four muralists had started, the whole wall was vandalized. Thanks to an extended timeline by the DHBC and extra work on the part of myself and the muralists, we were fix it in time to unveil it during The Art of City Building 2019 international conference.

In addition to helping facilitate the event, I also scraped, primed, and sketched out the initial and intermediary designs for the wall.
