2020 EVENTS & NOTES

To date, here's what happened in  2020:

  • $400 raised  in the January during the "Give-a-Fuck Fundraiser"

  • $144 raised in April during the "April Animal Fundraiser"

  • $355 raised in May  & June for the "Fly With Me Fundraiser"

  • 21 trees have been planted by Tree Canada from the ongoing "Print & Plant Fundraiser"

  • In the trial run of the ArtV, 8 activities for children to seniors were held across Canada, all out of pocket.

GIVE A FUCK FUNDRAISER
Jan 15-31st

For two weeks in January of this year, I had a spur-of-the-moment fundraiser where any $20+ donation to a listed charitable donation meant I would send them a surprise mystery mail, complete with a Cursive Pin. In the end, $400 was raised to Out of the Cold Halifax shelter, Calgary Drop-In shelter, WIRES Wildlife Animal Rescue, Adsum Women & Children's shelter, Tree Canada, and RAICES Texas.

ANIMALS FOR APRIL FUNDRAISER
April 1st-30th

For the month of April, $10 from every Custom Pet Portrait order placed will go to help furry friends at the Saving Grace Animal Society rescue farm (AB) and Atlantic Wildlife Institute (NB).
In total, $72 was donated to each organization.

FLY WITH ME FUNDRAISER
May-June

From May to June of 2020, I'm offering two branches of fundraising to support Fly With Me Animal Rescue, who rescue dogs from across the world and help them find their forever homes. For whatever you'd like to help with, I'm offering Mystery Postcard Packs or Custom Pet Portraits, both of which will have a portion going towards Fly With Me.

PRINT & PLANT FUNDRAISER

all-year

Selected from my Music Bird painting series, these 5''x 7'' inkjet prints are on Forest Sustainability Certified (FSC) textured  linen paper, and one-third of each print sold goes to  Tree Canada, which has many  reforestation programs across the country.

The purchase of one print equals one tree being planted. To date, over 100 trees from this initiative have been planted.

DROP-IN BLOCK-PRINTING
Saturday, October 17th

As part of the ArtV's mission to provide artistic opportunities to rural locations across Canada, we'll be on-site at the Carstairs Public Library or offer all-ages Block-Printing! With weather permitting, we will be outside from 12-3pm with all materials and instruction provided for this PWYC event!

DIY DONUTS
Saturday, Nov 7th

Make artwork that looks good enough to eat! In this playful workshop, participants will learn the steps it takes to make their own colourful donut creations! Using repurposed surfaces and acrylic paint, folx will experiment with colour and creativity. This workshop is facilitated by the Altruistic Current branch, the ArtV: a not-for-profit, mobile art studio that creates all-ages workshops across Canada.

IMMERSED IN ILLUSTRATION
Mondays, Jan 18-March 22, 2021

Welcome to an insightful look into the world of illustration! This online class offers a keen overview into many aspects of illustration: historical examples from around the world, current-day specialized fields of illustration, and demos in the classic (and sometimes unconventional!) tools in an illustrator's toolkit. Although broad in scope, this class is by no means a definitive guide; just a keen insight into what makes the world of illustration so exciting! Open to all levels of skill, this class is geared more towards drawing beginners and illustrators who are just starting out.
